Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. As a person with Irish origins, who was surrounded her by talented parents and family members, this came naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin in Ireland on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen did well in sports and was a lover of rough play. Her talent for performing was a perfect complement to her interest in sports. She won almost all Feis Award for Theater and Drama which her nation had to give. As she reached the age of 14 she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dreams of classical theater and singing opera.
